MJW: Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

Hey friends!

Last week was extremely bittersweet for me. As some of you may have noticed, I made the bold decision to close registration to my Skillshare class on Modern Calligraphy. For those who originally signed up for unlimited access, you'll still have access to the class. For those of you who go looking to sign up, you'll find that it no longer is available.

Taking down my class was a really big and risky move for me. It has been a constant stream of residual income since 2013 that I've been really fortunate to have. In 2014, my Skillshare class was rated at as one of the top 10 classes on the platform along with other big hitters in the industry like Mary-Kate McDevitt, Jessica Hische, and Jon Contino.

To make a long story short, In March of 2014, Skillshare switched over to the membership program and shifted their vision a bit. I no longer align myself with that vision so I decided it was time to take a new path out on my own.

Skillshare is an amazing website and I'm happy to have had the pleasure of teaching all of you a little bit about modern calligraphy, but bigger and better things are to come and every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

As I've been developing Molly Jacques Workshop, it's really become clear to me that I feel most fulfilled when I can connect with students at a more personal level. On Skillshare, it was virtually impossible for me to give feedback and help mentor a class full of 20k students without taking large amount of time off from my freelance work.

At MJW, we'll be offering the highest of quality class that one can take aside from an in-person college education. We'll keep the classes at a reasonable size I'll be offering personal interaction and mentorship with every student that subscribes. MJW won't be a right fit for everyone, but it will indeed provide the proper learning environment for those who are serious about their craft. Once we get closer to the launch, I'll provide more info on how to decide if MJW is a good fit for you.

Thank you to every single person who has participated in my Skillshare class. My life was truly changed by your participation and I do hope that you'll continue to stop by here to find new techniques on modern calligraphy and hand lettering. MJW won't let you down. Promise. Even for those of your who don't become members, you'll still get a lot out of this new kick-butt website.
